St. Dominic’s Grammar School prides itself on being one of the leading independent schools in Staffordshire
Our school educates and inspires boys and girls from rising 3 to 11 in our Preparatory School and girls only aged from 11 to 18 in our Senior School; both schools nestled together on one site in the idyllic, rural village of Brewood, South Staffordshire, just a 5 minute drive from the M54, M6 and the i54 Technology Corridor.
Since becoming Head for the new 2015-2016 year, our school has continued to thrive and all the staff throughout the school have worked tirelessly to ensure every pupil reaches their optimum potential.
We remain active and competitive members of the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA) and Independent Schools’ Association (ISA) and this enables the Preparatory and Senior Schools to flourish both academically and develop our co-curricular activities that explore, challenge and develop each of our pupils’ every talent. It is this dynamic, rewarding and positive environment that is inhabited by inquisitive learners and dedicated staff that sets us apart from the other schools locally as we prepare all our learners individually with the prerequisite life skills to ensure their future success.
Formerly a convent, but now non-denominational with a Christian ethos, the school has been educating pupils since 1920 and continues to stimulate, inspire and challenge our students at every stage of their development. More recently St. Dominic’s Grammar School has returned to its heritage and now looks to develop and nurture boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Preparatory School. Whilst in the Senior School we ensure that the strong foundations are then built upon for the girls to succeed in the twenty-first century. We continue to be at the forefront of education in the area and remain the leading independent girls’ senior school in Staffordshire.
We are proud of our consistent high academic performance but ensuring a balance to one’s education is equally important so I am also keen to focus on the huge number of unquantifiable activities that go on outside the classroom; drama, music, dance and singing all play a vitally important role at St. Dominic’s Grammar School. Our Performing Arts department is renowned for its musical and dramatic excellence and is frequently approached by companies for our pupils to audition in local productions. They reinforce the values of the school and help to build confidence and develop team spirit.
I am always delighted to support the numerous teams and individuals across a wide discipline of sports who compete successfully at high levels, representing the school at county and national level. This is also an important aspect to ensure our learners learn to lead healthy and active lifestyles, so there are always opportunities for all our pupils to participate in an extensive range of physical exercise before, during and after school.
I really believe actions speak louder than words so it is my pleasure to invite you to come and see our vibrant working environment for yourself. To us every day is an open day. Please do contact us to come and meet our very best ambassadors, our learners.
