The Perfect Harmony

St. Dominic’s has a flourishing Music department, with over half of our pupils enjoying tuition from specialist Peripatetic teachers in orchestral instruments, piano, guitar, drums and solo singing.

Set in a modern state-of-the-art recording studio, students have the facilities to enhance and develop their musical ability.

We believe that creative subjects such as Music, work in harmony with the core academic subjects. General memory is improved as pupils read and memorise sheet music, which as a result, benefits them in other subjects and examinations.

Teaching music at the earliest possible opportunity allows us to support our young learners in the development of hand-eye co-ordination and motor skills. All of our pupils enjoy participating in musical performances, both at internal and external events. They are also encouraged to join the choir or a band. Performing a musical piece develops our learners’ confidence whilst demonstrating how a sense of achievement can act as a key motivational tool.

Our aim is to support students to reach their full musical potential. They will have the opportunity to learn an instrument from new, continuing through to Grade 8. We are extremely proud of our achievements in this subject and enjoy success at a variety of competitions and events at all levels.
