A better educational environment
A leading Independent School near Wolverhampton
Considering independent schools in Wolverhampton?
If you’re looking for Wolverhampton independent schools in and around the area then consider St Dominic’s Grammar School. This leading independent school is situated in South Staffordshire, in the idyllic, rural village of Brewood, and yet is only a 20-minute drive from Wolverhampton city centre. In fact, due to our location, we are even closer to many north west Wolverhampton suburbs – we’re only 8 minutes from Codsall and 15 minutes from Tettenhall.
Over a century of nurturing the next generation
Once a convent, now non-denominational with a Christian ethos, the school has been educating pupils since 1920. The school has maintained throughout its long history the passion and desire to stimulate, inspire and challenge every child at every stage of their development.
Dedicated to a rounded education
Though academic success is paramount our school looks to broaden the horizons of all of our students. For that reason, we look to enrich our pupil’s school life as much as possible. St. Dominic’s Grammar School Performing Arts Centre offers unrivalled dance, drama and music facilities. In addition, we have exceptional and diverse sports facilities and a comprehensive extra-curricular programme complements the academic development of all our pupils. Again here are excerpts from our most recent ISI Inspection.
‘Pupils understand how to be physically and mentally healthy, in line with the school’s motto of ‘mind, body and spirit’ because they participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including sport. …. Pupils attain a very good level of success both locally and nationally in extra-curricular activities such as music, drama, sport, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and competitions; ….’
Serving the Wolverhampton and the West Midlands
Welcoming both girls and boys from 4-19 we operate two dedicated bus services serving the Wolverhampton area which picks up pupils for the junior school, senior school and the sixth form. The services have pickups across Wolverhampton including Finchfield, Tettenhall, Perton, Compton, Penn and also includes bus route transfers serving Telford, Bridgnorth, Stafford and Newport.
Our approach to school fees
As a not-for-profit company, we invest all profits back into school. As a result, we have the lowest fees of any local independent schools without compromising on the quality of education, facilities or class sizes. Class sizes are maximum 18 in the preparatory school. This continues for most subjects in the senior school where small classes allow for more personalised learning especially the core subjects of maths, English and science.
