There’s nothing quite like the sound of music echoing through our school so we were delighted to welcome guests to our first concert of the new year – an occasion for our talented pupils to show off their amazing progress.

It goes without saying that we are proud of the efforts of our pupils and we know you are too. That is why we love putting on concerts regularly throughout the year where they can entertain you and gain the valuable experience of performing in front of an audience.

It’s a grand idea!

The concert was the first in a series which will be held at the school over the coming months. There was no admission charge for the event but donations were gratefully received towards our goal of funding a new grand piano. Indeed, any money we raise at this year’s concerts will go towards the piano for our Peakman Hall.

Pupils were able to showcase their talents in front of a large audience which included parents and other guests. It was a highly entertaining evening which was enjoyed by pupils, staff and visitors alike.

Mrs Perks, Head of Music, said: “I would like to thank everyone who came along on the evening to support our concert to celebrate the New Year. It proved an enjoyable and invaluable experience for our pupils.

“Visiting music staff held the event in the Peakman Hall – the concert was an informal one to showcase both individual and group performances from all genres of music.

“The music staff work diligently with students, many of whom take exams within their chosen instrument. An important part of the learning is to perform in front of an audience and it also gives parents the opportunity to see the progress being made by their children.”
