Pre Preparatory School serving Wolverhampton, Staffordshire & Shropshire

Introducing a Love of Learning

The early years of a child’s education are the ones that will inspire and guide choices made in later life. These years will discover the personality of your child and provide inspiration for a love of learning and exploration. This is why our Pre-Preparatory Department aims to give the best start to every child.

In Reception the children follow the EYFS Areas of Learning and Development. There are three Prime Areas: Physical Development; Communication and Language; and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. Learning is predominantly through play and exploration. With a forward-looking curriculum and small class sizes, our children are given the tools to make outstanding progress in a safe, secure and stimulating environment.

Outdoor learning is also an important part of our Pre-Preparatory curriculum. We offer a dedicated, secure, new outdoor activity area, designed specifically by the School to maximise learning, through fun and motivating activities.

Our topics are reviewed annually to ensure we provide a curriculum that is current, exciting and innovative. Our balanced curriculum includes tuition in French and Spanish and combines a mixture of creative and artistic activities alongside a structured learning programme, that allows children to progress at their own pace. Lessons are taught by highly specialised teachers and, by offering a diverse and enriched programme of learning, your child develops emotionally and socially, building a solid foundation for their future education.

Curriculum

Early preparatory Classes

In our Early Preparatory classes, all learners study a broad range of subjects in which key standards are followed. The main focus is daily English and Mathematic sessions. The skills developed in these areas are used widely across the curriculum.

More Details
All other curriculum areas; Science, Computer Science, Religious Education, Music, Physical Education, French, Spanish, Art, Design and Technology, History, Geography and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Education are taught throughout the week.

We also introduce all pupils to dance and singing with swimming introduced from the summer term for Year 2 pupils.

At the end of Key Stage 1, our pupils are aware of others around them and are developing a sense of community. Organisational skills are actively encouraged to promote a more independent learner. They will have made important steps on the learning ladder, particularly in English and Mathematics. By the end of Year 2 we hope to foster a love of learning, encourage pleasure in reading and a desire to learn more.
